COACH SPOTLIGHT SERIES: DAWN PUTNAM

team beachbody coaches, beginning coaching, what is a beachbody coach

Throughout 2017 I made a goal to make sure that I am doing everything in my power to let my coaches know how much they are appreciated! So every other Friday I am going to share THEIR story of success!

This week, I have the pleasure of announcing Dawn Putnam as our first COACH SPOTLIGHT. She’s been a member of the team for two months, is a 2 MONTH SC Starter, a new emerald coach, and a leadership ladder Business Starter!

Dawn is an incredible woman with unbreakable faith. Her journey to coaching is as incredible as her heart. When asked what her favorite motivational quote was, she responded:

Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will eb given to you as well. Matthew 6:33

Below are a few questions she was kind enough to answer!

Can you provide a little background information for me to share! Business successes? Awards? Recognition ie rank, and achievements. What’s your life outside of BB like? IE, work full time, mom, hobbies, etc

I am married to my husband of 18 years. We have four children, 19, 17, 11 and 8. I work full-time as an Executive Administrative Officer for a bank holding company. My husband and I are passionate about high school youth ministry and have spent the past 16 years mentoring young men and women. In my “spare” time I enjoy doing all things outdoors, especially running. And Disney. We love Disney.

Every coach has a story to tell! Can you share with the team a little about how you became a coach? What drew you to the opportunity?
Not sure I ever told her, but I was freakily Facebook-stalking Katy for a really long time before I finally reached out to her! I was drawn to her posts because she was always so genuine and real, and shared of her own personal struggles that I could so relate to. Plus, I loved her sarcasm and quirky sense of humor, and more than anything, that fact that she loved Jesus! I had never been a part of any sort of online accountability group and hesitated for a long time, but when Katy began promoting her 1st Made to Crave challenge group, I just really felt as if God was nudging me to do it. Nothing else I had tried had ever worked for me, nor did I understand the correlation between my struggle with food and my spiritual life, so I was intrigued. I joined her group and my life was forever changed. The Made to Crave book made me see my struggle for food for what it really was, and for the first time in my life, I was able to hold a light up and expose my issues for what they were and begin working through them. God did (and has continued to do) a major work on my heart. Not only did the challenge provide amazing physical results, but a huge spiritual change as well. I knew when that first challenge group wrapped up that I was just getting started and that I somehow needed to share what I had learned with others, that they too might be impacted and given new hope.

Can you share a little about the challenge groups you run? How do you help your challengers achieve results? Is there anything you do that’s a bit different than a standard challenge group?
Considering the impact the “Made to Crave” book had on me during my first challenge group experience, I learned that it is critical to put God first before anything else. That we need to fill up with him before we can pour out to others. Therefore, I have committed to making Him the foundation of every challenge group I run. Each of my groups includes some sort of devotion, book or study and I encourage my challengers to START THEIR DAY by filling up with Jesus. Even if they aren’t “morning people” or don’t get their workout in until later, I emphasize the importance of starting our day focused on Him. My “target audience” is working moms who are always running on empty and are in need of “filling up.” This is a feeling I think all women can relate too and the response has been incredible.

What accomplishments are you most proud of thus far?

It is the most incredible feeling in the world to see God using you to impact the lives of other people. I have absolutely NO CLUE what I am doing, but He is clearly at work doing amazing things.
It goes without saying that there is no such thing as a straight shot to success. From the outside, people might think you’ve got it all figured out!

Can you share a setback you’ve had and how you overcame it?
Social media. When I first started coaching I was putting a ton of pressure on myself in this area. I tried to follow all of the “suggested rules”, posting a minimum of 3 times a day, rotating the content between motivation, health/nutrition, invitations, personal, etc. This was an extreme change from my presence on social media before and I quickly noticed that I wasn’t getting the amount of “likes/comments” that I hoped for and was constantly feeling defeated. Also, at times my posts felt “forced” and just not “me” and it honestly wore me out. I was watching what other coaches were doing and trying too hard to be like them. I’ve learned over the past several months that although the posting is definitely important, the majority of my “success” has come from personal relationships and reaching out to specific individuals. It is still easy for me to get down on myself when I base my success on my “likes/comments”, but instead I try to focus on the relationships I’m building and the lives I’m impacting.
Let’s talk goals! Each month we set personal goals for ourselves that are slightly outside the comfort zone and challenge us! What’s a business goal you’ve set for yourself this month? What tips do you have for coaches about goal setting?
My monthly goal has been to reach success club each month, and I’m 2 for 2 so far! I want to continue running monthly challenge groups, retain my current challengers and bring on 2-3 new each month.
On the KB we talk a lot about having a WHY that pulls you towards your vision of success. WHY do you coach? What’s driving you forward?
I coach because I can’t NOT coach. I feel as if there is no other response to what I have experienced than to share it with other people. I was in such a dark and ugly place and felt hopeless, and the way that God used my journey to wellness to bring me back to Him, to a place of contentment and joy, I just feel as though I need to share that with other people. To pay it forward and help offer that same hope to others.

Just for fun, if you could go back to your first week or month as a coach, what would you tell yourself??? OR what mistake did you make then that you can laugh about now?

Well there was the time on facebook that I attempted to be all inspirational and stuff, but turns out the picture I included came across like a bare butt with a little turd popping out! No joke. How’s THAT for inspirational!? #mustardseedit #morelikebarebuttcheekit
And the picture she’s referring too??? Whoops! LOL!

Thank you Dawn for your incredible work! So inspired by you my friend!
