Whole30: That’ a Wrap

whole30, what is whole30, what to eat whole 30, whole 30 and shakeology, whole30 plan
Whole 30 is DONE!

BOOM. And that’s a wrap. 30 days following the Whole30 plan is complete! When I first started this program, I was so nervous about sharing the experience with others. I was nervous that I wouldn’t succeed, and I hated the idea of giving up.

But I hated the idea of remaining the same even more! I was uncomfortable in my clothes, and weighing more than I had in 3 years. So I set the date to focus on eliminating some major staples from my daily diet! I was scared to start, and only a handful of people knew that I was on this journey.  But once I started to really feel good, it became easier for me to share!

Here’s howWhole 30 works:

30 days-

  • No cheats
  • No grains
  • No alcohol
  • No sweeteners
  • No processed, artificial, chemical anything

It’s not a diet. It’s a program to help you optimize your natural health. It’s a program based on helping you achieve results that begin on the inside.  Most of the changes can’t be seen. They are felt.

Pretty safe to say this is by far one of the best things I’ve done for my body since investing in my health 4 years ago when I discovered Insanity!

I feel friggin amazing!!! This program is the awesomesauce!

What am I eating on the plan?

9 Pounds Down

Eat meat, seafood, eggs, tons of vegetables, some fruit, and plenty of good fats from fruits, oils, nuts and seeds. Eat foods with very few ingredients, all pronounceable ingredients, or better yet, no ingredients listed at all because they’re totally natural and unprocessed. I also keep LARA bars handy as well as That’s It Fruit Strips. My blood sugar tends to be low, and I know when I need a little extra sugar. They are easy to pack in your purse, and grab instead of being tempted by sugary snacks!

What have I achieved by day 30?

Overall, I’ve lost a total of 9 pounds, and four inches from my waist! I have no afternoon fog, and I have an insane amount of natural energy! I feel lighter, and my clothes are fitting me better! I I also feel alleviated from my urge to constantly eat sugar. (This was my primary reason for starting the program!)

What was the hardest part of the program?
Day 28. There was something about day 28. I can honestly tell you that today is the first time since I started my journey, that I have let doubt creep in, and have thought hard about giving into the cravings.

I came to this conclusion:
You see for four days, I have been up late, up early, submerged in training after wonderful training. Networking with my teammates. Learning, growing, and I am not too afraid to admit- I had a couple of pretty solid, put you in your place kinda gut checks.

I didn’t take time to pray.
I don’t know if I’m just realizing this now, or He’s seriously working on my heart…
But I am friggin weak without Him.
So on the way home, when I couldn’t get good internet connection, I took out my book, read and prayed, and asked Him to help me complete the program.
But more importantly, I asked Him to help me continue putting prayers before cravings.
Whole30 for me has not been a diet. It’s not about calories or a scale. It’s about my relationship with food. It’s about dealing with the bigger issues, and coming to accept certain truths that I’ve been done an amazing job of dodging.

Was it Hard to Travel on the Program?
I became really good at planning out my meals, especially meals that needed to be quick! So when I was getting ready to travel, I tools extra time to purchase grab and go products! I was able to stay completely compliant on the program, and not feel temped by food or drinks! I didn’t struggle with travel because I was prepared! I found that as I continued on my journey, it became a lot easier to see/feel my successes as oppossed to feeling only my struggles.

Would I Recommend this Program?
Yes! I would absolutely recommend Whole30 to anyone who is looking to make some natural changes and course correct any health ailments they are experiencing. For me, this was about breaking up with my sugar addiction, and finding a closer connection to God through prayer.  I was able to rid myself of some of my favorite comfort foods, and find enjoyment in new recipes!  I highly recommend this program to anyone ready to make their health a priority!
