What to Expect on a 3 Day Detox

I have received a ton of emails and private messages on social media about the 3 day detox program I completed.  It’s strange because I think we assume that doing a detox is about weight loss, but to me, after completing a number of detoxes, it’s more about rejuvenation than anything.

After completing the 3 day detox program, I lost about five pounds increased my natural energy, decreased my bloating, and most importantly, I eliminated my sugar cravings. The program helps users make a clean break from poor eating habits and created new, healthy ones.

Consider those sugar cravings SQUASHED!

I wanted to put together a little blog post about what you can expect if you are going to complete the 3 day detox program that I completed by sharing totally unfiltered information!

What Can I Expect on the 3 Day Detox Program?

Slight Change in Mood:

It’s totally normal to experience irritability or crankiness given that the caloric load per day is lower than usual them. Any such shifts in mood are temporary and not long-lasting. It’s also normal to notice a dull headache due to any caffeine withdrawl.  You may also feel your energy is a little low.

Hunger is Normal:

Users may experience hunger or craving for foods which are not part of the program during the 3 days, however, these symptoms are temporary. The meal plans is rich in fiber and protein and offers frequent meal, beverage and snack occasions to guard against hunger. For me, the hunger usually set in around 3 pm and wasn’t bad until day 3.

Vanilla Fresh shakes taken at lunch and dinner also contain a clinically-tested potato protein extract which helps to curb hunger and cravings.

It is a restricted-calorie eating plan so hunger is likely.

Weight Loss:

Amounts will vary by individual, but most users will experience a weight loss of 3 pounds on average. I personally have experienced 1-5 pounds each time I’ve completed the program.

Sleep Improvement:

Sleep irregularities may be experienced by some individuals, however as the body recalibrates, and moves itself into healthier, systemic functions. I’ve also experienced a deep restful sleep throughout the 3 days.  It’s important to know that just as much as you are resetting your nutrition, you are going to want to rest your mind and body as well. You will likely feel the need for more sleep.

It Might Be Worth Noting:

Working Out is Not Recommended:

Because this is a restricted-calorie eating program, we recommend that individuals who wish to exercise during the program limit their activity to mild or moderate levels. For individuals who are used to extreme exercise, we recommend stopping extreme exercise (or tapering down to mild/moderate levels). I kept it exclusive to yoga!

Body Aches are Common:

I usually experience headaches or body aches during the program given that the caloric load per day is lower than usual. Any such incidences are temporary and not long-lasting.  I also see a change in my body temperature.  I get incredibly cold and would need to warm my water to room temperature before I drank it!

Digestive Changes:

Improved regularity is a possible benefit of the program. However many users may not be accustomed to the higher levels of fiber in their diet, and this can lead to temporary gas, bloating or constipation.

What Do You Actually Eat on the Plan?

The program includes a simple, easy to follow plan with recipes. The recipes are simple- there are no complicated ingredients and everything can be found at your local grocer.
For Three Days, I consummed the following:

Breakfast: Have the included vegan protein with 10 oz of water, plus I could add one serving of fruit from the recommended list (which was not restrictive).

Mid-Morning: Blend and serve the fiber sweep with 8 oz of water.

Lunch: Have the “Vanilla Fresh” drink mixed with water (and a fruit option), as well as one serving of a vegetable which can include one serving of a healthy fat.

Mid-Afternoon: Another serving of a vegetable is allowed with a healthy fat.

Dinner: A second helping of Vanilla Fresh with water (no fruit allowed this time), and another helping of a vegetable and a healthy fat.

You cannot consume caffeine of any kind.  Instead, you can replace your daily coffee or tea with decaffeinated green tea.

Expect to Drink a Lot of Water!

You will also consume about 80 ounces of water throughout the detox.

How Often Do you Detox?

I actually detox about 4 times a year or when I am really struggling with some sugar issues.  For me, it helps me mentally refocus on creating healthy habits and kickstarting a new fitness routine!
