|Sweating for More than Calories Burned!|
A couple weeks ago, I was selected to participate in the newest Beachbody workout by trainer, Chris Downing. The workout from Beachbody is projected to launch in July 2017. It’s a 6 week rev-up program designed to help you attain amazing results by intensifying the workouts and shredding the meal plan. I put together a little sneak peek to the first week in the program.
What Does it Mean to be in a Test Group?
A test group is a selected group of coaches who’ve been asked to review the program in a private group and provide feedback throughout their journey. Each coach participates in the program’s nutrition plan and fitness plan. It allows the creators and production team to make any tweaks to the program or to the nutritional plan before it is released to the public. They provide the company with testimonials and transformations to be used for endorsement.

Can you Describe the First Week of Workouts?
I won’t lie, the first day was BRUTAL. I ran my first half marathon on Sunday, so my legs were feeling pretty rough. Mike and I set the alarm for 5:30 am, and got to work. First, we drank our energize (our go to pre-workout), then we went down to the basement for the our very first agility workout, Speed:25. It was a 25 minute workout, 15 moves, 1 minute each with a small break in between.
The equipment needed for the workout were my agility markers and my laptop for streaming the workout.
Each move was challenging. There was an easy to follow breakdown of the move and a modifier. The modifications were still challenging but easy to follow.
The entire first week of workouts are 25 minutes long, and Thursday and Saturday you add Shift Core workout. Sunday is your rest day or your stretch day.
On Tuesday we moved into Strength:25. Througout the workout, I used 8, 10, and 15 pound dumbells. I tracked on a notebook paper what weights I used each day to make sure that I was challenging myself throughout the week!
We sweat throughout each move but made sure to keep our form in check throughout the one minute moves. I can see that any level of fitness can do this program. It’s all about competing with yourself, trying before modifying, and knowing you couldn’t give more to your workout!
How Do You Track Your Progress?
It isn’t all about the scale! I personally am keeping a journal to measure and account for my nutrition. Before starting the program, I also took pictures and measurements. I also pay close attention to how my clothes fit, my energy level, and my digestion! In less than three days into the “shift” shop, I was already feeling the changes: mentally and physically.

How Do You Meal Plan?
This nutritional plan is similar to that of the 21Day Fix. You determine your nutrtional plan based on your weight, lifestyle and your goals. Once you’ve determined your plan, you can use the nutritional guide as a source to determine the most beneficial food choices, the kitchen essentials, and of course your grocery list for the week.
Mike and I went to the grocery store on Sunday and spent some time prepping, cutting, and cooking for the week ahead. We work from home, so we don’t do too much ahead of time, but it is nice to have your salads ready, chicken cooked, and veggies cut!

Are your children picky eaters?
Like most recipes that have any green in them, my children turn up their noses.
