Mark it down. I am finally checking it off the list. It's been a goal about 4 years in the making. In fact I signed up to run my first half marathon 3 years ago, but cancer had other plans. In 2014, Mike ran the half marathon for me while I was going through treatment for Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
It took me a little time, some serious nervousness and a lot of prayer to decide that 2017 would be the year I finally run the half.
Whaat Made me Decide to Commit?
I would definitely not classify myself as a runner. In fact I prefer most of my workouts take place in my home gym. I love lifting, and quick workouts. But there is something about the clarity that running brings. There is something about the pavement and the breath that make you feel connected to something bigger.
How Will I Prepare?
I've looked through a ton of 1/2 marathon training schedules. I spent a lot of time on google searching for the perfect plan but I couldn't find one that seemed to work for my lifestyle. I love working out at home with Beachbody on Demand All Access, and the workouts are an incredible tool to help supplement between runs.
So after reviewing a few plans, and consulting a few of my running friends, I created a plan that I think will work well for me. It's a 12 week mix of cross training, strength training, long distance running, and a good amount of stretching while incorporating Beachbody on Demand workouts!
I just stared week 2 and thought that I would share!
It's actually cheaper than the price of 1 training session with a personal trainer and you get instant access to EVERYTHING. All of the Beachbody workout programs (including deluxe), a cooking show called Fixate, PLUS every other Beachbody Program that has been released or will be released in the next year. Don't miss out.
And wishing you well on your fitness journey too!
